Retired Strahan Joins Fox NFL Pregame Show

Michael Strahan says he won’t be afraid to criticize former teammates or friends in the NFL in his new job on Fox’s pregame show.

The recently retired New York Giants defensive end was introduced at a news conference Tuesday. He joked with new colleagues Terry Bradshaw, Jimmy Johnson and Howie Long.

The 36-year-old Strahan made seven Pro Bowls in his 15 NFL seasons and had the fifth most sacks in league history. He went out on top, winning a Super Bowl title in February.

In a pair of intriguing moves, the Giants released reserve quarterback Jared Lorenzen and extended the contract of starting right guard Chris Snee.

Lorenzen, variously known as “J-Load,” “The Hefty Lefty” and “Lord of the Ring (Dings),” because of his frequently astronomical weight readings, spent three seasons with the Giants as Eli Manning’s backup, and at his “lowest,” admitted he weighed 285 pounds.

“It’s a struggle,” he said. “I just like to eat, but I don’t think I eat as much as people think.”

Lorenzen, a product of the University of Kentucky, was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2004, the same year another SEC star, Eli Manning, was acquired by the Giants on draft day.
